Here’s the real reason Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce *still* make sense: 

When you’re a professional *anything* you want to be around other professionals. 

You want to be surrounded by people who have goals even bigger than yours, people who push you to new levels and show you how they got there too. 

When you perform at a high level you need someone who can keep the pace, who can hold conversations with you about what you do, and who can cheer you on with enthusiasm because they deeply know how hard you’re working. 

Have you ever heard the quote, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with”?

I don’t know if the magic number really is 5, but there’s a lot of wisdom in that statement. 

The people you spend a lot of time with influence your thoughts and your actions. You can get a glimpse of who you’ll become before you get there. You can choose to be a professional *insert your career here* through choosing to be around other professionals. 

As you look at the year ahead, who do you want to be more like? How can you spend more time with them in real life, or admiring them & learning what you can from afar if they aren’t in your city? 

You get to choose to be a professional.
